The Face Behind Moss
Hi, I’m Caroline! And I love flowers, naturally.
I started my career as a florist apprentice in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia, where I spent five years learning the craft. But I was eager to see more of the industry and challenge myself creatively, so I took a leap of faith and moved all the way across the world to Australia.
I had an incredibly formative year in Sydney, learning from some of the country's leading florists and immersing myself in a design culture that continues to inspire me today. From there, I followed opportunities to the Northern Territory and Far North Queensland, working with an entirely new palette of tropical and native botanicals. If you've ever stopped scrolling to admire a spectacular floral installation on Instagram, there's a good chance it was created by an Australian florist.
Living and working across such different landscapes deepened my appreciation for seasonality, texture, movement, and the unique character of place. My favorite flowers are flannel flower, native to bushland surrounding Sydney, and hydrangea, whose giant blooms dotted the neighborhoods where I grew up outside Philly. In a way, they represent how I live—with my heart always in two places at once.
After four years down under, I returned to Philadelphia to be closer to family. While I'm stateside again, my experience abroad continues to shape both my work and the philosophy behind Moss. I believe floral design should feel personal, immersive, and deeply connected to the people and spaces it celebrates. My approach is rooted in nature, guided by curiosity, and focused on creating environments that leave a lasting impression.
What do you say? Should we create something beautiful together?
